In partnership with HBC, SPLASH FOUNDATION, INC. has launched a new project for kids enrolled in the Interactive Literacy Program (ILP) “Bye, Bye Kuto Tatalas Isip Ko” last July 26, 2008.
This is in line with the “Operation Linis Katawan” a hygiene day for the ILP kids that is done every month. Of the 90 kids from Grades 1 to 6, 43 kids are found to have headlice (kuto) and nits (lisa).
 Kuto Free Na Kami!!!
The launch started with a lecture and a powerpoint presentation about headlice that was performed by HBC’s Ms. Carmen B. Joaquin together with Mr. Joseph B. Lizada.
Actual procedure includes shampooing the hair using HBC’s Healthy Exclusive Product “QUASSINOIDS” Headlice Treatment Shampoo and leaving the hair wrapped for 10 mins. before rinsing.
The Health Team of the ILP parents helped in the conduct of the treatment. Known as the “Kuto Busters,” they were counting loudly on how many “dead” headlice were collected in each head. To observe the effect of QUASSINOIDS and have the hair headlice totally free, the treatment will be done and observed daily for 2 weeks.
As part of it’s Corporate Social Responsibility, HBC in partnership with SFI will conduct the “Bye, Bye Kuto Tatalas Isip Ko” campaign in the different elementary public schools of Valenzuela City starting with the Canumay West Elementary School that has a population of 3000 students.
SFI continues to support the Department of Education’s effort in improving the quality of education through its programs such as: the Interactive Literacy Program; Free use of Computer and Internet where students and teachers may avail; Library with reference books; Teacher’s training in Basic Computer Education and health programs such as Bye, Bye Kuto Tatalas Isip Ko and Sa Wastong Pagkain, Tatalas Isipan Natin feeding program; among others.
