We Remember Tacloban.

As we remember with sadness, the wrath of Typhoon Yolanda that struck the southern part of the Philippines, particularly, Tacloban and Leyte, please allow Ang●Hortaleza Foundation, Inc. (AHFI) to refresh you with the help extended during those times:

Moondish canned products

One day after the typhoon, Tacloban was isolated from the rest of the neighboring towns, where food, water was not available, Splash Corporation and AHFI communicated with our local distributor based in the area to immediately release the stocks of Moondish products worth P1.2M. This was handed over to the LGU for distribution.

Donations from Employees

A campaign requesting for donations from WSH employees was made, and came immediately, old clothes, bottled water, canned goods, blankets, linens and many more. Employees volunteered to pack them so they could be delivered immediately to Tacloban.

About 5,000 packs were sent two weeks after.

Free Haircut for Teachers

In December, as schools were about to resume and in partnership with the Department of Education, 10 graduates from AHFI’s livelihood training, Ganda Mo, Hanapbuhay Ko, flew to Tacloban and Palo, Leyte taking the C-130 military plane to give free haircut to the teachers. The haircutting was done in one day, as shelters were not available and no place to sleep, then yet.  HBC also donated “kikay kits” to the lady teachers who particularly requested for lipsticks to make them look good and feel good.

Pedicabs for Livelihood

Then, it was time for “TINDOG TACLOBAN.” It was time for them to recover their self esteem and help them find livelihood.

In February, AHFI made a campaign to WSH employees to give cash donations for purchase of pedicabs (padyak). Again, generosity was felt among employees, where 15 units were donated to Tacloban. This was through the office of Vice Mayor Sambo Yaokasin, brother of SC Board of Director Jim Yaokasin.
