Computer Knowledge for Public School & Day Care Teachers

In support to a better quality of Education, the Ang•Hortaleza Foundation Inc., conducts Basic Computer Training to teachers covering lessons on MS Word, MSExcel, MSPowerpoint, internet browsing or other lessons related to Information Technology. Already on its 5th year, teachers from the different public schools in Valenzuela City attend this training every summer break.

For this year, there were two batches of participants who availed: 11 grade school teachers from Lingunan Elementary School and 14 from the different Day Care centers of Valenzuela City. It was a hands-on training with each participant having her own assigned computer unit. After the lecture, the participants were given exercises so they can explore and learn more about the day’s lesson. It was an exciting mood as they learned to make powerpoint presentations. They said that this would help in getting the attention of their students if they make animated presentations. The MSExcel will also help them in making the summary of attendance and grading sheets of their students that they have to submit to the school principal.

The training evaluation was done on the last day with a short written examination. For the first batch Ms. Nelisa Bagalay got 100% and Ms. Nora Juatas got 93% for the second batch.

Ms. Myrna Muli, one of the teachers in thanking AHFI said: “Marami po kaming natutunan sa inyo, sana po meron ulit training for more enhancement ng aming natutunan na acquire na knowledge. Malaking tulong po ang training ninyo sa mga katulad po naming guro.”

AHFI would like to thank Mrs. Miraluna Omamalin, IT Teacher from Krus na Ligas High School in Quezon City, who volunteered for the first batch of the training from April 23-27, 2012 handling participants from Lingunan Elementary School and AHFI’s Program Manager, Ms. Aui Manalang and Program Officer, Teacher May Morandarte for the 2nd batch, May 2-10, 2012.
