Director’s Profile

 

Rolando B. Hortaleza, M.D.

 

Dr. Hortaleza, 56, Filipino, is the Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Splash Corporation which he co-founded in 1985 with his wife, Rosalinda, also a medical doctor. He has served as Director since 1991. Dr. Hortaleza sits as Chairman of Ang•Hortaleza Corp. and of the Company’s subsidiaries. He also serves as Vice-Chairman of Ang•Hortaleza Foundation, Inc., World Partners Bank, World Partners Finance Corporation, and World Partners Insurance Brokers, Inc.

 

Dr. Hortaleza is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, and the Philippine-China Business Council Inc.

 

Dr. Hortaleza graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Preparatory Medicine (Pre-Med) from the University of the East and obtained his degree in Medicine from Our Lady of Fatima University in 1984.

 

Dr. Hortaleza also attended the Owners and Presidents Management Program at the Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts from 1997 to 1998.

 

He is an Agora Awardee for Outstanding Achievement in Entrepreneurship (Large Scale Category), a TOYM Awardee for Business Entrepreneurship, and an Aurelio Periquet Business Leadership Awardee – Pillar Category. Dr. Hortaleza recently received the 2013 Asia Pacific Enterprise Leadership Award (APELA) in the Built-to-Last Category in Singapore. APELA honors CEO-level enterprise leaders for outstanding achievement in elevating the ideal of corporate stewardship across the region.

 

 

Rosalinda A. Hortaleza, M.D.

 

Dr. Hortaleza, 58, Filipino, is the Chairwoman and Chief Executive Officer of HBC, Inc., Ang•Hortaleza Foundation, Inc. World Partners Bank, and World Partners Finance Corporation.  She also sits in the Board of Splash Foods Corporation, and Moondish Corporation.  Dr. Hortaleza previously served as director of the Company from 1991 to 2012.

 

She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from the University of Santo Tomas in 1980. She obtained her degree in Medicine from Our Lady of Fatima University in 1984.  She attended the Advanced Management Program at the Harvard Business School in Boston, Massachusetts in 2000.

 

She is a Dr. Jose P. Rizal Awardee for Excellence in the Field of Management and Finance given by the Chinese-Filipino Chamber of Commerce, a Balance Awardee for Entrepreneurship given by Working Mom Magazine, and a MVP Bossing Awardee for outstanding entrepreneurs given by PLDT SME. She was named an Outstanding Businesswoman (Large Scale) in 2000 by the Soroptimist International Clubs of CAMANAVA and Go Negosyo Filipina Starpreneur (Large Scale Category) in 2011.

 

 

Jimmy T. Yaokasin, Jr.

 

Mr. Yaokasin, 46, Filipino, was elected as Independent Director of Splash Corporation on October 1, 2007.  He was formerly Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Development Academy of the Philippines in his capacity as the representative of the Office of the President. He is a member of the Board of Directors of MRC Allied, Inc., Leyte Cable TV Network, Inc., Bethel International School and Salisbury BKT Securities, Inc. Mr. Yaokasin is currently the President of YKS Realty Development, Inc., Toyota Tacloban Leyte, Inc. and LPG Fuel Boss Corporation, and Vice President of The TOYM Foundation Inc.

 

Mr. Yaokasin obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration major in Accountancy (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of the Philippines. He obtained his Masteral degree in Business Administration (MBA) under the joint Executive MBA program of the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University, Chicago and the Hongkong University of Science and Technology.  Mr. Yaokasin is a Certified Public Accountant.

 

 

Maurice P. Ligot

 

Ms. Ligot, 64, Filipino, has been a Director of Splash Corporation since 2002.  She is currently a director of Ang.Hortaleza Corporation, Splash Foods Corporation, Barrio Fiesta Manufacturing Corporation, Prime Global Distribution Corporation and World Partners Bank, and a Trustee and Managing Director of Ang∙Hortaleza Foundation, Inc.  Prior to her present positions, she was with Splash Corporation as Production Manager, Quality Assurance Manager and Total Quality Manager.

 

Ms. Ligot obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy, Silver Medalist, from the Centro Escolar University, where she was Outstanding Alumna of the School of Pharmacy in 2000 and Centennial Awardee in 2007. She earned units in Master of Science in Pharmacy from the University of the Philippines. She also obtained diplomas in Creating Value in CSR from the Asian Institute of Management in Indonesia; Triple Bottomline: Operationalizing The Doing Good from Asian Institute of Management, Philippines; and Corporate Governance from the University of the Philippines.

 

Ms. Ligot was Trustee and Treasurer of the League of Corporate Foundations in 2003 to 2007 and currently, chairperson of the LCF Health Committee. She is also a trustee of Ninoy and Cory Aquino Center for Leadership.

 

 

Emily A. Abrera

 

Ms. Abrera, 68, Filipino, has served as an Independent Director since June 11, 2011. She is also as an independent director of Pioneer Insurance Co. and Teleperformance SA (Paris), and a director of the Asia-Pacific Media Alliance for Social Awareness, a media and advertising industry led initiative for building public awareness on social development issues and achieving behaviour change. She currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, CCI-Asia (the content-production company behind Living Asia Channel), and Children’s Hour Philippines, and as a Trustee of Museo Pambata, Philippine Board on Books for Young People, the Philippine Eagle Foundation, and the Bonifacio Art Foundation. She is also the President of the Foundation for Communication Initiatives (FOCI) .

 

Ms. Abrera has extensive experience in marketing and advertising. In 1999, she assumed the Chairmanship of McCann-Erickson Philippines. Under her leadership, McCann rose to prominence for its creative products, its social awareness programs, and its business success, winning “Agency of the Year” five times in seven years.  She remains Chairman Emeritus of McCann Worldgroup Philippines. She likewise occupied key positions in local 4A’s, TVRC, and the Advertising Board of the Philippines. She is an Agora Awardee for Marketing Management and a Lifetime Achievement Awardee of the Philippines’ Creative Guild. In 2002, she was honored as one of the “25 Mavericks in Philippine Advertising” by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies.

 

Ms. Abrera took up Mass Communications at Maryknoll College, and Journalism at the University of the Philippines.

 

 

Ricardo R. Blanco

 

Mr. Blanco, 57, Filipino, is the founder of Blanconsult Business Consulting, and currently member of the Board of Directors of Ang Hortaleza Corporation and Fil Resource Consulting.

 

Mr. Blanco is an engineering and management consultant providing services to the property sector. He arranges joint ventures and packages property developments. He is consulted by Cest Consultants, DCCD Engineering and Mohri, Architects Associates.

 

He was formerly the Chief Operating Officer of Splash Properties Inc., and Vice President for Research, Planning and Studies of RGV Real Estate Center. His work experience comprises engagement with Marina Properties Corporation and he used to manage a general construction company.

 

Mr. Blanco is a Licensed Civil Engineer. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management.

 

 

 

Veneranda M. Tomas

 

Ms. Tomas, 61, Filipino, is the President and Chief Operating Officer of Splash Corporation, whose appointment took effect on 1 January 2015. Ms. Tomas joined Splash Corporation in September 2009 as Executive Assistant to the CEO and Head of Investor Relations, and soon after was appointed as Executive Vice President and Chief Finance Officer.

 

Ms. Tomas is a Past-President of the Institute of Internal Auditors – Philippines, and currently a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Directors of the Philippines, and a member of the faculty of the University of Asia and the Pacific. She was formerly the Senior Vice President & Director of Group Audit at San Miguel Corporation, and is presently also a member of the Boards of Directors of Barrio Fiesta Manufacturing Corporation, Seaoil Philippines, Inc., Prime Global Distribution Corporation, Moondish Corporation, PT Splash Cahaya (Indonesia), Splash H&B Limited (Nigeria), and Splash Global PTE Limited (Singapore).

 

Ms. Tomas holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration major in Accounting and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of the East. She ranked 2nd place in the CPA Board Examinations. She also completed the academic requirements for Masters Degree in Business Administration at the Ateneo de Manila University.  She also finished the Strategic Finance and Control course in IMD Switzerland.
