On its fourth year of recognizing the SFI kids enrolled in the Interactive Literacy Program (ILP), a recognition and graduation day was held last March 29, 2008 for the School year 2007-2008.
The ILP’s “Karunungan, Kaunlaran ng Bayan” is an alternative learning system for children where interests in reading, writing and reading comprehension are developed in Grades 1-3 while mastery in English, Math and Science are enhanced in Grades 4-6. Classes at all levels are scheduled one hour daily. Other activities included in the ILP are workshops in Arts and Craft, Values Formation and Educational Field Trips.

The graduation ceremonies involved 91 children enrolled in the ILP, giving recognition to deserving students from Grades 1-6. Guest speaker was Mr. Baltazar Gayen, DepEd’s Division Coordinator in Alternative Learning System and other special guests included were Canumay West Elementary School Principal, Dr. Adoracion Guevarra and SFI’s COO/Managing Director, Ms. Maurice Ligot.
It was a moving moment for the parents to see their children graduate from SFI’s ILP especially for those with distinct honors. As a token of recognition, ribbons and medals were given to academic and non-academic awardees.
The day also included the recognition of volunteers who have shared their time in support for ILP programs; Ms. Connie Bahia, SC’s Prod. Testing and Documentation Manager, speaker for “Paglaki Ko, Gusto Maging Scientist” and WPB Prod. Dev. Manager Edwin Fontanilla for the kid’s “Mag-impok para sa Kinabukasan” activities.
SFI’s continues to support the Department of Education’s effort in improving the quality of education through its programs such as: the ILP; Free use of Computer and Internet where students and teachers may avail; Library with reference books, Teacher’s training in Basic Computer Education and many others.
